LONDON 1927
This is absolutely amazing. It's a compilation of colour film showing London in 1927, between the two great wars.
Tony is a retired teacher. He is a volunteer at The Museum of The Home (Geffrye Almshouses) in Shoreditch, where he gives tours of the almshouses. He also supports the education work the museum carries out with local schools.
Tony enjoys writing his blog which covers subjects he feels strongly about.

Props to the BFI for keeping this little gem.
ReplyDeleteTony, You are welcome. It's a real gem. I couldn't help but think that in a dozen years, so much of this would be bombed by the Luftwaffe, making this film all the more important.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to write, did you see the horse and wagon going over London Bridge w/all the car and bus traffic going around it? This was in 1927!
ReplyDeleteTony, I have seen parts of this film before, but not in color. This truly brings the past back. Thank you and Mary for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this marvelous clip. It is remarkable that it survived WWII, lucky for those of us who love London and love history.
